Why Fortis Chose a Credit Card Built for Construction

When Stacy Lewallen joined Fortis Construction as the Director of Finance and Accounting, one of her first priorities was evaluating the company’s existing credit card solution. The goal: find a platform better suited to construction workflows and accounting requirements.

As Lewallen explains, “One of my first projects when I came aboard was to find a new credit card solution.” Fortis reviewed several options as part of that process. “We migrated away from Corpay, we looked at Brex, and we looked at a couple others that I just don't recall, but Finvari by far stood out,” she says.

Finvari is designed specifically for construction spend workflows, with features that align with how project teams and finance departments operate. At Fortis, that included direct integration with their ERP. “The integration between the Finvari platform and the Viewpoint Vista platform is seamless,” Lewallen says.

That seamless integration allows transactions to flow into Vista in a way that preserves job-level context and supports accurate accounting without additional manual work.

Beyond the technical fit, Lewallen points to adoption and day-to-day usage across the organization as a key measure of success. “My favorite part of Finvari is that our project teams and our Fortis team in general are happy with the product,” she explains.

For Fortis, user adoption mattered as much as functionality. “At the end of the day, that is the ultimate goal in any solution that we bring on board,” Lewallen says.

“When we have happy people and have good things to say about the platform, then that's success.”
